Last time I posted, it seems that I was having a day full of major food mishaps. I'm happy to report that those days are behind me!
Chris and I ended up having a wonderful anniversary weekend (and I managed to stay clean!). We went to Cooper's Rock here in Morgantown and what a dream for photographers! I had my camera out there and Chris was a bit hesitant as I was crouched and leaning in positions that may not have been the safest (they were definitely NOT the safest!), but I got the shots no problem...I've had plenty of practice when he wasn't around. Plus, I'm kind of a dare devil when the mood strikes. My fellow photography fans understand this concept, right? I haven't photoshopped anything yet because my computer (with photoshop on it) is dying a slow horrible death. It can barely run IE anymore. My RAM is too slow! Technology. That's ok though because I am in the market for a new laptop. I need an efficient one (preferably an i5 for you dorky techies that know what I'm talking about) for school. I need one that can run fast and hold a lot of information. We do have an external hard drive for backup (which Chris almost killed the other night), so I won't be hogging ALL of my C drive :-). Here are a few pictures from Cooper's.
Last weekend, my brother came to visit! This is only the third time in 7.5 years that he has been able to visit. He's a chef and a musician with a crazy schedule. We spent almost 100% of our weekend on a friend's boat out on Cheat Lake. Lots of relaxation and fun! The drinks were flowing and the food was great! At one point, we were tied up to 13 other boats. It was a block party on the lake! I wish I had more time with my brother because I miss him a great deal, but I completely understand and thoroughly enjoyed the time I had. On Saturday night, we went to our local watering hole, Novichenks. Had a blast there! Chris is famous at our little bar because he always gets up on the mic and does his rendition of "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. Completely classic! If he hasn't done it by midnight, the crowd starts getting a little antsy. People expect this from him now because he's done it a bunch of times. For the very few (non-regulars) that come in once in a while and have seen it, Chris is know as "The Sandman". He is famous at our po-dunk West Virginia bar that we love. We've met some great people there and developed long lasting relationships. It's a bar, but the people have become a part of our extended family when we have none around you. Our crew has meshed with the local Cheat Lake crew and we love to spend time together boating, chatting, eating, wake boarding and generally cutting loose from our long weeks of work. They are incredibly genuine people and we adore them. Here are some pictures of the boating weekend. Most of the pictures are of us and all of the other boats you see are the locals we spend time with.
All in all, West Virginia hasn't been as bad as I thought. It's actually grown on me. There are some things about this state that make me wonder about humanity, but for the most part, at least where we live, it's peaceful and we are thoroughly enjoying it. Enjoy the pictures and I promise I will take pictures of our new diggs and post them soon.
